Micron’s Broader AI Memory Portfolio Outpaces Sandisk as Both Report Record 2026 Results

Micron’s Broader AI Memory Portfolio Outpaces Sandisk as Both Report Record 2026 Results

Micron Technology and Sandisk have both benefited from surging artificial-intelligence demand, but their fiscal 2026 results show two different investment profiles. Micron sells DRAM, high-bandwidth memory and NAND products across data-center, enterprise, automotive and other markets, while Sandisk remains focused on flash-based storage for data-center, edge and consumer customers.

The company said higher pricing and a shift toward higher-value customers drove the improvement, and it signed five additional multiyear New Business Model agreements after announcing five earlier in the year.

The companies’ balance sheets and supply structures also differ. Micron’s broader product lineup gives it exposure to multiple memory markets, although roughly 60% of its revenue is tied to data-center customers and it competes with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Sandisk has a narrower flash portfolio and relies on its Flash Ventures relationship for substantial wafer supply; its fiscal 2026 filing said it made $3. 6 billion in net payments to the venture for flash-memory wafers and related loans.

Both businesses face risks beyond demand cycles. Sandisk continues to manage tax obligations connected with its separation from Western Digital and the high fixed costs associated with manufacturing.

The stocks have already recorded extraordinary gains. Over the 12 months covered in the comparison, Sandisk shares rose about 827% and Micron shares about 334%. The supplied valuation analysis placed Micron at roughly seven times forward earnings and Sandisk at about eight times, with Micron also showing a larger revenue base and a broader set of end markets.

That combination supports a preference for Micron in the comparison, although it does not eliminate the risks attached to elevated expectations, customer concentration or the cyclical nature of memory pricing. Sandisk offers more concentrated exposure to the flash-storage expansion, while Micron combines that exposure with DRAM and high-bandwidth-memory products that are directly tied to AI infrastructure. Analyst price targets cited in the comparison pointed to potential upside for both companies, but those targets remain estimates rather than guaranteed outcomes.
