Analysts split on AI winners as Meta target rises and enterprise software faces a valuation test

The changes were issued during the week ending Oct. 18, 2026, as analysts reassessed how quickly artificial-intelligence spending is translating into revenue, cash flow and durable demand.

Truist Securities raised its Meta price target to $1,000 from $763 and maintained a Buy rating, matching Wells Fargo’s highest target on the stock. Analyst Youssef Squali incorporated early traction for Meta’s Muse AI agent into longer-term estimates and set a base case for $28. 5 billion in additional revenue by 2030. Meta shares had gained 21% since Muse launched Sept. 8, compared with a 2% rise for the S&P 500.

Bank of America made the sharpest change for Salesforce, moving the stock two rating steps from Underperform to Buy and lifting its price target to $285 from $160. Analyst Tal Liani said discussions with chief information officers and other market participants led him to conclude that large companies are unlikely to replace platforms that contain core business logic, data, workflows and compliance systems. His framework for Salesforce’s AI offering combines governed data, business applications such as Sales Cloud and Service Cloud, the Agentforce agent layer, and Slack with the Anthropic-powered Claudeforce interface. AI revenue remains small, and slower adoption was identified as the main near-term risk, although Bank of America raised its subscription and support revenue growth forecasts for fiscal 2028 and 2029 to 10. 4% and 10.

The week’s other calls were more guarded. Barclays downgraded Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NetApp to Equal Weight from Overweight, saying their valuations had advanced faster than evidence of a meaningful enterprise-AI inflection. The firm said seven enterprise-exposed stocks in its coverage had risen about 140% on average this year, versus 12% for the S&P 500, and cut Dell’s target to $574 from $603. HSBC separately downgraded Adobe to Hold from Buy and reduced its target to $267 from $310, citing the potential competitive threat from a free, open-source clone of parts of Adobe’s Creative Cloud.
