The repeated reversals have contrasted with deeper weakness across the wider digital-asset market, where gains have not spread beyond the largest cryptocurrency.
Bitunix’s October 17–23 review of the 300 largest tokens found that roughly 80% declined during the week.
The weakness intensified on Oct. 22 after Bitcoin briefly climbed near $84,800 before falling as much as 2. 9% to about $81,600. The CoinDesk 80 index declined 3. 5%, while a decentralized-finance index fell 5. Ether slipped 2. 6% toward $2,400, and Solana fell 2. 4% to around $104 even as its Alpenglow network upgrade went live overnight.
DeFi tokens were among the clearest casualties. Curve fell 8. 2% to about 37 cents, Ethena declined 7. 2% and Uniswap lost 5%; Uniswap was down about 20% for October despite record September fee revenue. LayerZero dropped 4. 2%, Worldcoin fell 7. 3%, and Pump. Fun declined 6%, leaving it down about 19% for the month.
The retreat also exposed a sharp split among individual assets. Monero rose 4. 9% to roughly $651 and was up about 19% over the month, while Zcash fell 4. 8% to around $1,252.
Market attention now turns to scheduled U.S. The Federal Open Market Committee is set to meet Oct. 27–28, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis has scheduled September personal-income and outlays data, including core PCE inflation, for Oct. Those events may influence the market’s next move, but the current distribution of losses shows that a Bitcoin bounce has not yet become a broad crypto recovery.
