Bitcoin briefly moved above $83,000 before slipping back toward $82,500, extending a recovery from Sunday’s low near $80,700. The cryptocurrency remained above the $80,000 level it briefly broke below Thursday and was up roughly 0. 5% from the start of the UTC day.
Broader crypto markets advanced more strongly. Decentralized-finance tokens led the benchmarks, with all six members of the sector index higher and Arbitrum gaining 6.
The rebound coincided with a recovery in technology-linked markets. Nasdaq 100 futures rose more than 1% and Asian shares advanced after China reported third-quarter economic growth of 4. 5%, up from 4. 3% in the second quarter and above market expectations. Oil prices also eased, adding to the improved tone across risk assets.
The move followed a difficult week for U.S. The Nasdaq lost 4. 5%, its steepest weekly decline since June, as investors questioned the scale of artificial-intelligence spending and the debt used to finance it; CoreWeave fell 25% during the selloff. Investors were also preparing for earnings from Meta Platforms and Tesla, adding another test for confidence in the technology investment cycle.
