Solana has operated without a reported major mainnet outage for more than two years, but concentrations in validator stake, hosting infrastructure and client software remain potential resilience risks, a Fidelity Center for Applied Technology review found.
The review said the network has improved across resilience, economic security and performance. It pointed to substantial staking participation, incentives tied to validator performance, low latency, greater capacity and low transaction costs as factors supporting Solana’s operation at scale.
It also identified decentralization concerns, including stake controlled by a relatively small group of validator identities and operators. Concentration in hosting and software could create additional dependencies if a provider, location or widely used client encountered a serious disruption.
Solana’s performance work has advanced alongside the resilience assessment.
The proposal says shorter slots are intended to reduce confirmation and finalization latency while keeping the network’s overall wall-clock work rate broadly stable through proportional limits on per-slot processing.
The combined record leaves the network with a stronger recent uptime profile, while the distribution of stake, infrastructure and software remains an area for continued monitoring.
