Visa and crypto payments company Mesh announced a partnership on Oct. 19 to let users spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances held in participating wallet apps at Visa-accepting merchants. The service is intended to work both in stores and online, without requiring users to cash out to a bank account or obtain a separate crypto card.
Mesh will provision a Visa payment credential inside participating wallet applications and manage the transaction’s funding and conversion among supported crypto assets, stablecoins and fiat currency. Merchants will receive a standard Visa payment, so the arrangement does not require new checkout hardware or changes to existing payment procedures.
Visa’s acceptance network covers more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories. The companies have not yet disclosed which wallets or platforms will launch first, which devices will be supported or when the service will become available, so the announced footprint represents Visa’s network rather than confirmed immediate access for every Mesh user.
Mesh will also handle customer onboarding and know-your-customer requirements. The company said more than 200 enterprises already use its network, which connects wallets, exchanges and other platforms to payment services. Visa described the arrangement as a way to broaden how digital-asset balances connect with familiar payment experiences.
The deal extends Visa’s recent work with crypto infrastructure providers. In April 2025, Visa and Bridge announced tools allowing developers to issue stablecoin-linked Visa cards, with Bridge converting stablecoin balances into fiat so merchants could be paid through the existing network. Mesh’s model is designed to let participating platforms offer spending from balances in their own wallet apps without building and operating a separate card program.
Mesh’s partnership with Visa follows a September integration with Bybit Pay that enabled spending from supported exchange balances. In January, Mesh raised $75 million in a funding round led by Dragonfly at a reported $1 billion valuation. The next confirmed step for the Visa arrangement is the announcement of participating platforms and rollout details.
